Cruel Treatment of Uyghur Muslims in China
News Today, Xinjiang – Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah International Cooperation Relations Muhyiddin Junaidi revealed the poor treatment of the Chinese government towards Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang.
Muhyiddin is the head of the Indonesian Islamic mass organizations invited by the Chinese Embassy to Indonesia to the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region on February 17-24, 2019. He said the Chinese constitution restricts the religious freedom of its citizens. This was only discovered by Muhyiddin after visiting a number of camps in Xinjiang.
“The constitution says that religion is applied in closed spaces not in open spaces. If you wear the hijab, going out the road, you are considered radical. If we are radical, then we have the right to be sent to re-education center camps, “Muhyiddin said at a press conference at PP Muhammadiyah Office, Monday (16/12).
From the results of his visit, Muhyiddin also said that those who pray will also be arrested with radical charges. Similarly, a mother who teaches religion to her child at home, will be labeled as radical.
Those who were labeled radicals were sent to camp. Then, in that place they were treated very badly.
“During re-education may not pray, forbidden to read the Koran, forbidden fasting, eat what is presented by the government. And that’s under heavy surveillance, it’s CCTV every corner, “he said.
Muhyiddin claimed to have protested to the Chairman of the China Islam Association (CIA) Abdul. But he still adheres to the Chinese constitution on religious freedom.
