Scientists predict Corona Virus Will Claim Up to 200 Thousand Lives in the US

Washington – United States senior scientist Dr. Anthony Fauci issued a prediction that the corona virus could claim up to 200 thousand lives in the US.

Dr. Fauci, who led the research on infectious diseases at the National Institutes of Health. Estimates that between 100,000 to 200,000 corona virus-related deaths could occur in the US, with millions of cases of coronavirus infection.

He disagrees with the worst predictions that the death toll will reach around 1 million or more people.

But Fauci, a prominent member of the coronavirus task force formed by President Donald Trump, reminded him not to rely on these estimates.

“I do not want to be attached to it. It’s like a moving target so you can easily be wrong and mislead people”. The scientist said as quoted by AFP news agency on Monday (3/30/2020).

For comparison, the flu epidemic in the US in 2018-2019 killed 34 thousand people.
